It is important to establish a routine for the back-to-school year to make it easy to transition into the fall semester. It’s crucial to help your child stick to these routines.
Healthy habits can help children achieve their goals and provide stability. These are some of our top tips for establishing this school year.
Get up early and get to bed.
While it might be okay to stay up late and sleep in during summer, fall is a time when kids must be able to make it to school on time. Your child will be more comfortable returning to school if he or she can wake up at a reasonable hour and go to bed.
You don’t have to set the alarm for your children in the morning. Instead, you can try other methods like listening to their favourite music or reading audiobooks. These are gentler than setting the alarm and will get your kids started on the right track.
Help them wind down at night an hour before they go to bed. Winding down can take longer than you might think. Please give them a time limit to brush their teeth, read, and then get in bed.
Have a healthy breakfast
Encourage your children to eat a healthy breakfast and then continue eating whole foods throughout the day.
Start your day right by eating breakfast! Find out which protein-rich breakfast foods your child prefers (eggs or yogurt), and make sure they have them in their morning meal. Even a breakfast pizza is possible!
Establish “homework hour.”
It can be difficult to make homework feel like a chore. But if you give your child a set time each day, they are more likely to do it. Set up a station with pencils, a calculator, periodic tables, and other supplies. Set a timer, and let them watch as they work.
Your child will focus on their homework and reduce distractions by setting a time for them to do it each day.
Get active
Your child will be more likely to prioritize physical activity if they understand its importance from an early age.
Get outside and complete a family movement challenge. You’re on the right path if your child has enough time to be active and play each day.
